FTSE gains 0.05% at open (AFP)

LONDON (AFP) ? London shares steadied in opening deals on Tuesday after closing up the previous day, amid continued concerns over Greek debt.

The FTSE 100 index of top shares rose by a marginal 0.05 percent to 6,020.46 points in early trade.

On Monday the blue-chip index gained 0.46 percent to close at 6,017.54 points, with investors buoyed by bumper gains in Asia following positive US manufacturing data.

But Asian stock markets were mixed on Tuesday, with optimism tempered by fresh concerns over Greece's debt crisis. Tokyo was flat, edging up 7.37 points to 9,972.36.
