Jennifer Aniston fans better get their fill of the star in this summer's raunchy laugh-riot Horrible Bosses and this fall's road-trip comedy Wanderlust -- because it could be awhile before the 42-year-old actress graces the big screen again. Why? Because, as an "Aniston insider" tells Us Weekly, "Jen's taking a year off to enjoy herself."
If the source is correct, the impetus for this hiatus could very well be Aniston's budding romance with Justin Theroux. Things seems to be progressing well for the pair, and history has shown what busy movie-star schedules can do to a nascent relationship.
Of course, it's a risk to retreat from the spotlight that long -- Hollywood does have a short-term memory. But we're betting that Aniston -- who just added a Decade of Hotness award on her mantel, and has a coveted star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame coming her way in 2012 -- won't slip from moviegoers' minds so easily.
Plus, it's unlikely that Jen will quit working completely during the hiatus. Aniston's production company is developing a film called The Goree Girls, about singers in a women's prison -- and Us Weekly's source claims that Aniston wants new flame Theroux to work on polishing the script with her. "She's impressed by his ability to find humor in dry material," says the source of Theroux, who got screenwriter credits with the smash hits Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2. If true, this could be a very smart move on Aniston's part -- and a good way to mix business with pleasure.
If Aniston really is taking a year out of the spotlight, she will surely be missed. But if some time off to "enjoy herself" is what the busy actress needs, more power to her. We'll be eagerly awaiting her return.
